Portraits

I started doing portraits because I realised I had a lot of internalised resentment towards my features and my skintone. As a dark skinned black woman, I’d absorbed a lot of messaging that either celebrated, muted or ridiculed me so that led me to find a way to reclaim some power. My work depicts Black women and I highlight hair, lips, noses eyes and by doing so, I remedy the insecurities I once had. I also love to pay homage to artists that have inspired artistry in one way or another e.g: André 3000, Michael K. Williams

Portraits are available on commission by using the ‘Request a Quote’ or ‘Contact’ forms.
